Playdate Themes and Activities
Many people use themes in organizing their earlier structured playdates. The common theme helps in organizing, especially if there are several children involved. I only did a few playdates like this. For those playdates, I selected a theme and then picked up corresponding props/activities/toys/books/etc from around the house and put them in a big "playdate" box in the days before the playdate. I also let the peer's parents know of the theme. After reviewing what I had scrounged up, I made a loose schedule of 'suggested' activities (always planning more than can be done in the allotted time). I tried to pick some activities that correspond to what we were currently working on (prepositions, observational learning, etc).
